From Agra, hop aboard a Shatabdi Train, the fastest train on the Indian Railways, and chug down to Jhansi – they say, the best way to see India and its diverse landscape is by train. From Jhansi, drive to Khajuraho, the land of erotic temple sculptures; en-route, stop at Orchha to explore its attractions.
After two nights at Khajuraho, the next stop on this North India tour is at Varanasi. Revel in the sights and sounds of the oldest surviving city in the world with boat rides on the Holy River Ganges. - Day 01: Arrive Mumbai
This Classic North India Tour begins with your arrival in Mumbai. - Day 02: Mumbai
After an early breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Mumbai (formally Bombay). The morning is devoted to an excursion to the magnificent Elephanta Caves, an island attraction with exquisite rock-cut cave temples. In the afternoon, we visit the main attractions of Mumbai, such as the Gateway of India, Prince of Wales Museum, the famous Hanging Gardens and the Dhobi Ghat. The Mumbai sightseeing tour also includes a drive past Malabar Hill. If time permits, we can also visit the Crawford Market for shopping. - Day 03: Mumbai to Delhi
After breakfast, check out from the hotel in Mumbai and set out for the airport in time to board the flight to Delhi. - Day 05: Delhi to Jaipur Via Neemrana
After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Delhi and depart for Jaipur. The journey will be by road and will include an en-route stop at Neemrana Fort, an ancient 15th Century fortress that has been transformed into a heritage resort. After spending a short while at the fort, we will continue our drive to Jaipur; on arrival, we will proceed to our pre-booked hotel for check-in. - Day 6: In Jaipur
After breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Jaipur. The tour begins with an excursion to Amber Fort, an ancient fortress located atop a hillock on the outskirts of Jaipur City. After a tour of Amber Fort and photo ops, we return to Jaipur City for lunch and then set out to explore the attractions of Jaipur City itself, namely, architectural landmarks such as Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar. - Day 7: Jaipur to Agra Via Fatehpur Sikri
After a hearty breakfast, check out from your hotel in Jaipur and embark on the drive to the next destination - Agra. En-route, we will stop at Fatehpur Sikri, a fascinating ghost town that was once the lively capital of Emperor Akbar and the place, where the Navratans of the Mughal Court gained fame. Today, Fatehpur Sikri is famous as the best-preserved Mughal architectural masterpiece in India. Today, we have to check out from our Agra hotel and board the early-morning Shatabdi Express train to Jhansi from the Agra Cantonment Railway Station. In the evening, we will enjoy a special evening boat ride on River Ganges, the lifeline of Varanasi and a holy river. - Day 12: VARANASI TO DELHI
Today is the last day of the Classic North India Tour and we will make the most of it. Wake up early in the morning and set out for the pre-assigned ghat to enjoy a boat ride on River Ganges. The scene is different in the morning, as you can see devotees heading to have their holy bath and perform puja all along the riverside, and especially on the ghats, just as the sun begins to cast its golden rays across the city. The sound of conches & temple bells enhance the ambience.
After the boat ride ends, we will explore the city on foot and visit the most famous temples. Return to the hotel for breakfast and check out of the hotel in Varanasi. We now proceed on our return journey to Delhi. En-route, we will stop at Sarnath, a major Buddhist pilgrimage spot.
After a short sightseeing tour of Sarnath, we will continue our drive to Delhi and proceed directly to the Indira Gandhi International Airport to board the flight back home or to the onward destination.
